A Puppy and a Ball of Wool

Wednesday 9th December

So those little goats went home yesterday. I miss them already but I'm looking forward to having them back in the Spring. We spent a lovely day with Bob and Val. Their little puppy Ludo got hold of my ball of wool whilst I was showing Val my crocheted blanket and look at the result...the little scamp!
Today we had to buy a new battery for the car and then the rest of the day packing and tidying up in preparation for leaving tomorrow. I also cleared some mud and leaves from the driveway.
This will probably be my last post for this time as tomorrow we will be mostly travelling.
Thanks so much for joining me!

A Visit to the Farm

Monday 7th December

We were up early this morning to take Spencer to the vets for his wormer for the Pet Passport. After a quick shop in Le Clercs, we came home. I did some washing and general tidying trying to think of things I have to pack as we're going home on Thursday. After lunch Chris was tackling the barn structure and I cut some brambles making the most of my last day with Bam Bam and Time. I'm really going to miss these little guys. Good news is that I've been told by our friend Bob that we can have them to stay next time!
The day finished on a high when our friend and neighbour Serge stopped by. I took him to meet the goats and he told me he used to keep sheep. After we'd all had a nice chat he said we were welcome to come along to his farm down the road. We jumped at the opportunity to meet his cows so we went along. Serge showed us around whilst feeding his cattle. It was a great end to the day.

Thanks for visiting!

Pommiers et Poiriers

Saturday 5th December

We went to the pépinière (nursery) at Tourch this morning. Our friend Henri took us there via the back roads. We'd been given two apples trees (to buy) as a gift from a friend in England and today I wanted to choose them. The man at the pépinière was very helpful and we bought a Coxs Orange Pippin and a Great Alexander which is good for baking. We also bought two William pear trees. When we got home we realised that we should have bought two different varieties of pear for the best pollination. Never mind, we'll pop back there again some time and get a third tree.
In the afternoon we managed to plant all four trees....Chris did the digging whilst I held the tree straight! The apple trees are in the grassy area behind the pond. The idea is that in years to come we will see the blossom from the farmhouse windows. We planted the pear trees in the bottom right corner.

Lovely to see you here!

Clearing the Driveway

Friday 4th December

Considering it is now December, the weather has been mild and even sunny some of the time. Over the last couple of days Chris has been adding supports to the back of the barn and we've both been clearing mud from the old driveway. The mud has then been put in the pond as a small part of the filling in process. We have also had a visit from our friend Henri who brought us some fresh lettuce and cabbage from his garden. I found I had quite a lot of bread left over from various baguettes so I made some bread pudding.

Thanks for popping by!

Trip to the Seaside

Wednesday 2nd December

I suggested to Chris that we down tools today as I thought we deserved a day off. After popping to see our friends Henri and Yvette, we drove to Le Pouldu on the south coast. We stopped by at a boulangerie we knew to treat ourselves to some of their delicious croissants amandes. We were in luck....they had 3 left! We had a nice lunch overlooking the sea and then took Spencer for a long walk along the coastal path and on the beaches.

Thanks for visiting!
