Protecting the Pear Trees

Friday 8th April 2016

I've been a little worried about this cow as she's been on her own a lot. We've come to the conclusion that she's probably near to giving birth to her calf. She's eating well and seems ok otherwise.

We popped to the Mairie mid morning to collect the paperwork needed for the electrics.

Chris then made some guards for our pear trees.

The goats are near the pear trees and we were concerned that they would be helping themselves to the young wood soon enough.

The morning started off very wet but the sun soon came out and the day was quite warm.

We spent most of the day outside making the tree guards and clearing wood.

Both trees are protected now and we don't have to worry where the goats are.

Late in the afternoon, Henri popped by with his granddaughter. She wanted to meet the goats. I gave her some pellets to feed them and then showed her how to throw the ball for Spencer. I don't think she's used to dogs but they had made friends soon enough.

Here's that lovely girl again. I wonder when she will have her calf.....

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Love reading all your posts Maggie, miss them when you're back in England. You look like you're making good progress with the house. It must have been lovely to drive up to it and see the bulbs you planted flowering in your little garden. All the best. Hilary.

  2. I used to have cows next door right across my drive way and you tend to "keep track" of them and they of you! Your flowers are so pretty what a lovely greeting when you arrived and love the pear trees! Good job on the "pear protectors"!

Please leave a comment....I would love to hear from you.....
